Plastics and Burns Receptionist / Administrator Support

The Plastics and Burns Trauma Receptionist/Administrator Support is responsible for supporting the Plastics Trauma Coordinator and wider team to provide reception cover and administrative support for the Plastics and Burns Trauma Service at Southmead Hospital. This includes creating referrals, booking patients into clinic, and ensuring correct intake in line with BNSSG ICB Policies.
Responsibilities
* Support the Plastics and Burns Trauma Coordinators as part of a clinical team to ensure patients are diagnosed and treated within national guidelines and in accordance with the trust’s Patients Access Policy (including NHS Constitution, emergency care guidelines, and Department of Health admission rules).
* Book clinics in advance and verify patient details.
* Schedule new or follow-up outpatient appointments and ensure all relevant paperwork is completed; ensure emergency attendances and outcomes are recorded in the PAS system(s) promptly and accurately.
* Handle enquiries from service users in a helpful, courteous, and diplomatic manner; maintain patient confidentiality at all times.
* Maintain regular communication with consultant teams, clinical staff, and directorate management to enable efficient processes.
* Answer telephone enquiries promptly, take and relay messages politely, and take appropriate action for enquiries from patients, GPs, and community hospitals.
* Provide cover for colleagues during planned annual leave and sickness.
* Undertake additional administrative tasks within the specialty/clinical division as required by the line manager.

Education/Training/Qualifications
