Role Overview
Are you an experienced Healthcare Support Worker with an interest in working in the Emergency Department at Maidstone or Tunbridge Wells Hospital? As a Healthcare Support Worker in our Emergency Department you will work as part of a multidisciplinary team, supporting registered nurses and contributing to the safe and effective care of patients.
Key Responsibilities
* Undertake observations, perform ECGs, support hydration and nutrition, deliver basic nursing care and assist with venepuncture and cannulation where competent.
* Maintain clear and compassionate communication with patients and their relatives, ensuring they feel supported and informed throughout their time in the department.
* Work rota‑based, covering days, nights and weekends to meet the needs of the service.
* Complete the required induction and ongoing training programmes for Healthcare Support Workers.
Qualifications and Experience
* Hold a Health Education England (HEE) Care Certificate achieved within a healthcare setting.
* Have experience working in an acute clinical environment.
* Have a genuine interest in emergency care; experience in cannulation or venepuncture is desirable but not essential.
* Be able to work days, nights and weekends and complete the 6‑month induction programme.

Application Process
If you do not currently hold a nationally recognised HEE Care Certificate, you can register for alerts for the Band 2 Trainee Healthcare Support Worker role. Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells NHS Trust will assist you with on‑the‑job training to complete your Care Certificate within the 6‑month probationary period, with a minimum completion time of 3 months. Upon successful completion you will progress to a Band 3 Healthcare Support Worker.
