Role Overview
As Communications Officer, you will develop and deliver high‑quality internal and external communications that support programme priorities, build trust with stakeholders, and strengthen TDA's reputation. You will work closely with programme leadership and functional teams to translate complex technical, operational and strategic information into clear, accessible and engaging communications for a range of audiences.
Key Responsibilities
* Communication strategy and planning: develop and implement communication plans aligned to programme priorities, key milestones, leadership messages and wider strategic objectives.
* Stakeholder engagement: support constructive engagement with internal and external stakeholders, including client teams, regulators, suppliers, partners, local communities and other key audiences as appropriate.
* Content development: produce high‑quality written, digital and visual content across channels, including briefings, newsletters, leadership messages, intranet content, social media copy and presentation materials.
* Brand and reputation management: ensure messaging is accurate, consistent and aligned with TDA brand standards, while protecting the reputation of TDA, its parent companies and its clients.
* Complex information made simple: translate technical and programme information into plain English that informs, reassures and builds understanding without creating alarm or ambiguity.
* Campaigns and channels: help manage priority communication channels such as newsletters, LinkedIn and internal briefing materials, measuring effectiveness and improving reach and engagement over time.
* Leadership and team support: coach leaders and teams on engagement approaches, communication quality and message discipline to avoid mixed or conflicting narratives.
* Issue and incident communications: contribute to clear communication protocols for issues, incidents and emerging risks, balancing pace, accuracy, governance and stakeholder expectations.
* Continuous improvement: use feedback, lessons learned and insight to improve the effectiveness, accessibility and impact of communications activity.
What we're looking for
* Strong written and stakeholder communication skills
* Experience in complex / regulated environments (nuclear, engineering, infrastructure ideal)
* Ability to simplify technical information into plain English
* Comfortable in fast‑paced, high‑profile programmes
* UK National Security Vetting Status – Ability to gain SC clearance
