* Work for rabbittransit for 5 years? (If not, must pay back the cost of training, thousands of dollars, per signed agreement).
* Work 3rd or 2nd shift, involving weekend work (not a choice, assigned per union seniority bid system) after the two-year apprentice program?
Two-year Apprentice Program includes:
* Online learning sessions at rabbittransit with Pennsylvania College of Technology faculty, with weekly tests.
* Hands-on lab learning at Penn College of Technology, including trips of week-long overnight stays near Williamsport, PA (lodging provided). Must have a valid driver’s license to drive our vehicle to training.
* On-the-job training onsite at rabbittransit, 415 N. Zarfoss Dr., York PA, with mentors.
Shift:
* Initially 1st shift during the apprentice program, but must be able to work night shift after completion.
* Post-program, must be able to work 3rd or 2nd shift, involving weekends, based on union seniority.
Additional requirements:
* Ability to work any shift within operating hours (Sunday 6 AM - Saturday 12:30 AM, Saturday 6 AM - 11:59 PM).
* Commitment to work 5 years for rabbittransit on the assigned shift, or repay training costs.
* Willingness to earn industry-recognized credentials (EPA 609, PA State Inspection, CDL Class B, etc.).
* High school diploma or equivalent.
Preferred candidates will have:
* One year of verifiable experience as a maintenance technician or completion of vocational training.
* Knowledge of vehicle maintenance, repair principles, tools, and safety regulations.
* Ability to diagnose and repair medium and heavy-duty vehicles, with problem-solving skills.
Must-have skills:
* Ability to work variable shifts, irregular hours, and overtime.
* Proficiency in English, reading manuals, and using computerized maintenance data systems.
* Good record-keeping and basic computer skills.
* Minimum 18 years of age, acceptable driving record, and background check.
* Regular attendance and punctuality.
Certificates and Licenses:
* Valid CDL Class B with passenger and air brake endorsements (must obtain within first year if not already held).
* Valid DOT medical card.
* Subject to US DOT drug and alcohol testing.
Benefits:
Excellent, low-cost benefits. Paid weekly. Pay: $24/hour with $475 annual tool allowance.
Job Summary:
This position involves servicing, preventive maintenance, diagnosing, troubleshooting, and repairing fleet vehicles. It includes working with other mechanics, performing safety inspections, and ensuring compliance with regulations. The apprentice role focuses on developing technical skills through hands-on training.
