Senior Accountant – Boutique Practice – West London – up to £50k+ DOE
We're working with a long-established, boutique accountancy practice in West London, now seeking a
Senior Accountant / Accounts & Tax Senior
to join their growing team. With 15 staff and a friendly, down-to-earth culture, this is an excellent opportunity for a technically strong accountant looking to take on a varied and rewarding role with exposure to a wide range of clients and industries.
About the Firm:
This firm combines the feel of a boutique practice with an impressive and diverse client base, including software, charity, construction, entertainment, music, and service charge sectors. Most clients are local, minimising travel, with the furthest based in North London.
They're a social team too – from monthly lunches and spring socials to Christmas parties – fostering a strong team spirit across trainees, qualified staff, and experienced QBEs.
The Role:
As
Senior Accountant
, you will take ownership of a portfolio of clients, managing a wide variety of work across accounts, tax, VAT, and audit support. You'll work closely with the firm's directors, supervise junior staff, and act as a first point of contact for clients, building strong professional relationships.
Key Responsibilities:
* Preparing and reviewing accounts (FRS 102 & FRS 102 1A) from trial balances
* Preparing corporation tax and personal tax returns
* Reviewing VAT returns and supporting on audits (around 35 annually)
* Supervising and mentoring junior team members, reviewing their work, and providing training where necessary
* Liaising directly with clients across multiple sectors, providing excellent client service
* Assisting directors with workflow management and business development initiatives
Software & Client Details:
* Accounts: IRIS
* Audit: MyWorkpapers (Mercia)
* Personal Tax: CCH Tax (advantageous)
* Client turnovers: £2M–£20M, with a broad sector mix
The Ideal Candidate:
* ACA/ACCA qualified or finalists
* Strong ability to prepare and review accounts from trial balances
* Good technical knowledge of accounting standards (FRS 102 / 102 1A), corporation tax, VAT, and personal taxes
* Comfortable supervising and supporting junior staff
* Excellent communication skills, with the ability to liaise confidently with clients directly
* Practice experience (SME or boutique firm) preferred
* Audit experience beneficial but not essential
* Experience with service charge accounting advantageous
