Overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an organised and motivated individual with good communication skills to undertake a split post between the clinical pharmacy team and dispensary. As a band 4 to band 5 progression post, once the specific criteria has been met and reviewed, the post holder will move from band 4 to 5 and become a Senior Medicines Management Pharmacy Technician. Progress will be reviewed regularly. This is a great time to join the pharmacy team as we look to expand our clinical pharmacy services post merger. Your focus will be to deliver a patient-centred pharmacy service to ensure medicines reconciliation is completed within 24 hours of admission. Other key duties include simple medication counselling as well as supporting a fast and efficient discharge process utilising our satellite pharmacies. We are a digitally advanced trust with electronic prescribing already in place, and have installed a bespoke dashboard allowing pharmacists and technicians to prioritise their workload. This allows us to focus our efforts on patient facing activities such as medication counselling. Responsibilities
* To provide routine technical pharmacy support in a professional manner which supports a high quality, patient orientated service.
* Support the clinical pharmacy team in delivering medicines reconciliation and supporting the discharge process at ward level.
* To provide straightforward pharmaceutical advice to patients / carers / ward staff.
* To undertake day-to-day supervision and support of Pharmacy Assistants and Pre-registration Trainee Pharmacy Technicians within the team.
* To undertake checking Pharmacy Technician accreditation (ACPT) and perform ACPT duties.
* To act as a professional role model for pre-registration trainee Pharmacy Technicians and pharmacy assistants, actively demonstrating integrity, ownership and leadership in all aspects of the role.
* To work closely with other healthcare professionals at ward level.
