Overview
We are looking for a Healthcare Assistant to join our team in Carmarthenshire providing compassionate, high-quality end-of-life care during day shifts and night shifts. As a Healthcare Assistant, you'll be a vital part of a multidisciplinary team delivering holistic, person-centred end of life care. Working under the guidance of registered professionals, you'll support patients and those important to them with personal care, symptom management, and emotional support. You'll contribute to care planning, assist with daily living activities, and help maintain a safe and dignified environment. This is a compassionate and hands-on role where you'll make a meaningful difference in people's lives during their final stages, while also supporting their loved ones through grief and bereavement.
Responsibilities
* Deliver compassionate, high-quality end-of-life care as part of a multidisciplinary team
* Support patients with personal care and activities of daily living
* Assist with symptom management and contribute to care planning
* Provide emotional support to patients and their loved ones; assist with bereavement support as appropriate
* Maintain a safe, dignified environment and escalate concerns promptly
Requirements / Qualifications
* NVQ Level 2 in Health and Social Care or equivalent Level 2 qualification (e.g. NCFE, BTEC), plus functional skills in numeracy and literacy at Level 2
* At least 6 months of recent care delivery experience in a health or social care setting
* Strong communication skills with the ability to hold person-centred, empathetic conversations and work effectively within a multidisciplinary team
* Knowledge of palliative and end-of-life care, including holistic care planning and symptom management
* Ability to plan and prioritise care, respond to changes in patient condition, and escalate appropriately
* A valid driving licence and access to a vehicle
Contract and Location
Salary: Marie Curie Clinical Pay Scale Band 2 (aligned with AFC) £24,833 pro rata per annum + enhancements
Contract: Permanent. We are hiring for positions across day and night shifts: one full-time (37.5 hours/week) and one part-time (30 hours/week) for day shifts; and two part-time roles for night shifts (27 and 36 hours/week). Based: Community Based - Carmarthenshire
