Our client, a leading UK contractor delivering some of the UK’s major construction projects, is seeking an experienced Design Manager to join their growing team. This is an opportunity to play a key role on London projects across sectors including commercial, offices and science buildings. Typical values schemes are £20m to £50m
Working with a highly respected company, you will be responsible for managing the design process from pre-construction through to project delivery, ensuring coordination across consultants and stakeholders while maintaining programme, quality, and compliance requirements.
Key Responsibilities
* Manage and coordinate the design process across multiple project stages
* Lead design meetings with consultants, subcontractors, and client teams
* Review and manage design documentation to ensure buildability, compliance, and cost efficiency
* Identify and mitigate design risks throughout the project lifecycle
* Ensure designs meet programme requirements and regulatory standards
* Support pre-construction activities including tender reviews and value engineering
* Work closely with project managers and site teams to ensure seamless delivery on site
Requirements
* Proven experience as a Design Manager within a main contractor
* Strong experience delivering large-scale construction projects in the UK
* Excellent understanding of construction design processes and coordination
* Ability to manage multiple stakeholders and consultant teams
* Strong communication, leadership, and organisational skills
* Relevant construction or engineering qualification preferred
