Job Summary

As climate change accelerates, the UK’s Net Zero strategy demands rapid decarbonisation and increased domestic power production. Your role will ensure that the energy sector protects people, the environment, and supports sustainable development.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide expert technical support and leadership through advice, guidance, and training.
* Develop sector strategy and create regulatory tools to safeguard environmental outcomes.
* Commission and manage external research projects as needed.
* Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, including Defra, DESNZ, trade associations, and industry players.
* Respond to incidents as the primary incident role, offering business continuity support during emergencies.
Team Overview
The Energy & COMAH team operates within the Energy and Manufacturing Industries Regulation Directorate (E&B). Technical experts define industry standards, deliver tools, guidance, and training, and promote best environmental practices.

* Relevant technical and regulatory knowledge, including control measures for air emissions.
* Strong relationship‑building skills with colleagues, operators, partner regulators, government, trade bodies, and academia.
