Go back Hampshire and Isle of Wight Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust

Senior Occupational therapist

The closing date is 16 April 2026

We offer specialist inpatient neurological rehabilitation and are a level 2 Unit. We have an exciting opportunity for an OT to join our dynamic Inpatient Neuro rehab team on Snowdon ward. We are looking for an enthusiastic, forward‑thinking and committed Occupational Therapist with strong clinical and team working skills to deliver high quality rehabilitation to our patients.

The role is ideal for an OT who has a passion for development and wishes to become a clinical expert in their field. You will work alongside a multidisciplinary team with a supportive management structure that welcomes innovation and quality improvement whilst prioritising staff well‑being.

Main duties of the job

The leadership team on Snowdon comprises the ward manager, Specialist Band 7 PT and team lead, Specialist Speech and Language Therapist, Dietitian and Specialist Psychologist, which will provide great peer support to the successful candidate.

There will be a variety of opportunities including developing complex assessment and treatment skills for our inpatients, within a team that advocates for close multidisciplinary working. The role also includes the opportunity to conduct assessments of patients on our waiting list that advise our patient flow as well as developing management skills when deputising for the therapy team lead.

As a specialist OT some of the clinical skills will involve delivering and supporting junior staff in complex cognitive rehab, posture management, upper‑limb assessments and treatments.

About us

Hampshire and Isle of Wight Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust provides joined‑up mental and physical healthcare for around two million people across our communities. With over 13,000 staff working in the community and local hospitals, we deliver care at every stage of life, helping people live their best and healthiest lives.

Our mental health services include community‑based support and early intervention in psychosis (EIP) for both adults and young people, alongside a network of specialist inpatient wards covering forensic, learning disability, eating disorder and older person’s care.

We deliver extensive physical health services too, from urgent community response teams helping frail and older patients remain safely at home, to hospitals‑at‑home teams providing acute‑level care in familiar surroundings. Our neurological services offer rehabilitation and treatment for conditions including Multiple Sclerosis, Parkinson’s Disease, Motor Neurone Disease, Head Injury, Cerebral Palsy and Stroke. Across Hampshire, our community hospitals provide inpatient rehabilitation as a step down from acute care, and our dedicated teams also staff Treetops Sexual Assault Referral Centre in Portsmouth, offering expert, compassionate support.

Everything we do is underpinned by our CARE values of compassion, accountability, respect and excellence.
