Applications are invited for the Clinical Fellow full-time post within Trauma and Orthopaedics at Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust, for a 6‑12‑month contract starting August 2026. The post is covered by the Medical Dental Staff Terms and Conditions of service and recognised by the SAC for professional training in Trauma and Orthopaedics, but does not carry NTN. It will provide training in line with ISCP and is designed to support and bridge the gap between CT2 and ST3. Day‑time responsibilities will include being on‑call, supporting trauma operating theatres, caring for patients on the ward, and attending fracture clinics. The successful candidate will receive day‑to‑day training at the equivalent of the ST3 grade and will also support the middle‑grade rota (SpR grade). Closing date: 17 May 2026
Responsibilities
* In‑patient accountabilities: reception and management of emergency referrals for injured patients from the Emergency Department and elective patients under consultant direction.
* Routine ward responsibilities: transfer and discharge summaries, operative theatre duties.
* Out‑patient duties: support orthopaedic fracture clinics.
* Teaching medical students.
* Active participation in the postgraduate programme, including clinical conferences, lectures, and seminars each week during term time.
* Full participation in research and audit of the department, with expectations to publish and present findings.

* MB BS (or equivalent).
* Full GMC registration.

Experience
* Good and wide‑ranging recent experience of orthopaedic surgery in acute inpatient settings in large acute hospitals.
* Minimum 12 months NHS experience (not including clinical attachments).
* Completion of Core Surgical Training or equivalent.
Communication and Relationship Skills
* Evidence of excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
* Evidence of previous leadership or management roles.
Research / Publications
* Participation in research or audit projects.
* Evidence of previous research including presentations or publications.
* Teaching experience with feedback.
Planning and Organisational Skills
* Evidence of exceptional preparation, scheduling and administration skills for unified patient management.
