Job Overview:
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Band 8b Lead Pharmacistto oversee and deliver high-quality clinical pharmacy services within the Emergency Department andadmissions ward areas of this NHS Trust.
This is a pivotal role combining hands-on clinical practicewith the leadership andmanagement of a skilled multidisciplinary admissions pharmacy team, including pharmacists and pharmacy technicians.
Key Responsibilities:
Providing expert clinical screeningof prescriptions and timely pharmaceutical care for acutely unwell and newly admitted patients
Completing final accuracy checksof dispensed items in high-pressure, fast-paced environments.
Delivering effective and compassionate patient counsellingto support safe medicine use from admission through transfer to inpatient teams.
Leading and managing the admissions pharmacy team,including rota planning, supervision, performance management, and professional development
Supporting medicines reconciliationand ensuring continuity of care during transitions between ED, admission wards and specialty teams
Collaborating closely with ED Consultants, nurse, and the wider multidisciplinary team to improve patient outcomes and reduce delays in treatment
Essential Requirements:
GPhC Registration
Proven ability to manage and lead a clinical pharmacy team
Strong communication and leadership skills with the ability to work under pressure
Previous experience working within a hospital environment
