Advert Dog Control Officer Dumfries/Stranraer £25,258.33 - £26,936 You will be required to work 28 hours per week, 52.14 weeks per year. This is an exciting new opportunity to join the Council’s Trading Standards team as a front-line officer. You will protect the public from out of control dogs and encourage responsible dog ownership. In this role you will respond to reports of aggressive dogs, serve and monitor dog control notices and maintain accurate records. You must have experience of working with dogs, be able to identify different breeds and understand dog behaviour. It would also be advantageous to have training in dog handling. The ability to safely handle dogs in a humane and safe manner is essential and this will require a degree of physical fitness and strength. You will be educated to SCQF Level 4 in English and Maths and be willing to undertake training. Good written and spoken communication skills and good IT skills will be required. Candidates wishing to work fewer than 28 hours per week will be considered and there can be flexibility on working hours as long as it meets the requirements of the post.
