Swift Education are currently recruiting for a Level 3 Teaching Assistant for a primary school in Kensington, West London to work in their EYFS team. This role is to start after Easter for the summer term (WC 13th April).
Key Responsibilities
Supporting Children’s Learning & Development
* Assist in delivering the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) curriculum
* Support children’s development across the 7 areas of learning (communication, physical, personal/social/emotional, literacy, maths, understanding the world, expressive arts)
* Work with individuals or small groups to reinforce learning
* Help children develop early reading, writing, and number skills through play-based learning
Promoting a Safe & Nurturing Environment
* Ensure children feel safe, secure, and included
* Support emotional wellbeing and positive behaviour
* Follow safeguarding and child protection procedures at all times
* Help with personal care if required (e.g., toileting, hygiene)
Supporting Play-Based Learning
* Set up and maintain engaging indoor and outdoor learning environments
* Encourage exploration, creativity, and independent learning through play
* Observe children’s interests and extend their learning through activities
Observation, Assessment & Recording
* Observe children’s progress and achievements
* Contribute to learning journals or online assessment systems
* Share observations with the class teacher to support planning
* Help track developmental milestones
Working with the Teacher
* Follow lesson plans and adapt activities where needed
* Provide feedback on children’s progress and behaviour
* Help prepare classroom resources and displays
* Support classroom organisation and routines
Supporting Inclusion & Individual Needs
* Support children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND)
* Adapt activities to suit different learning styles and abilities
* Encourage equal opportunities and inclusive practice
Working with Parents & Staff
* Communicate with parents (informally at drop-off/pick-up if appropriate)
* Work as part of a team with teachers and other staff
* Attend meetings or training when required
General Duties
* Help keep the classroom clean, safe, and organised
* Supervise children during break times, trips, or activities
* Follow school policies and procedures
