Overview:
Compass Associates are proud to be partnering with a leading independent provider of mental healthcare services delivering high-quality inpatient and outpatient treatment across the UK.
We are seeking a Consultant Psychiatrist to join a newly launched private inpatient CAMHS service within an established mental health hospital in the Essex region. This is a rare opportunity to join at an early stage of service development and play a key role in shaping the clinical direction, growth, and success of a brand-new adolescent inpatient unit.
The service currently operates a small 12-bed CAMHS ward providing low to moderate acuity private inpatient care for self-funding and private medical insured patients. With strong senior leadership support and growing referral pathways, the ward is entering an exciting development phase where clinical leadership will be pivotal to expansion and sustainability.
Location:
Private inpatient mental health hospital in Chelmsford, Essex, easily commutable from surrounding areas including Colchester, Brentwood, Basildon, and East London.
Working Pattern:
This role offers flexibility with both full-time (37.5 hrs/wk) and part-time contracts available (minimum 0.5 FTE).
Full-time consultants may also benefit from 1 day per week remote working, depending on service needs and rota allocation.
Key Responsibilities:
* Provide clinical leadership for the private CAMHS inpatient ward
* Conduct ward rounds, assessments, risk management, and treatment planning
* Lead on admission decisions and initial psychiatric assessments
* Oversee outpatient follow-up and continuity of care
* Contribute to service development and growth of a newly launched ward
* Build referral pathways with external stakeholders including insurers, GPs, and schools
* Support marketing and service visibility to increase occupancy
* Provide clinical supervision and leadership to junior medical staff
* Participate in a second-tier on-call rota alongside RMO-led first line support
* Contribute to clinical governance, audit, and quality improvement activity
* Ensure high standards of communication with families, carers, and insurers
Criteria:
* GMC registered Consultant Psychiatrist on the Specialist Register
* Experience working within CAMHS services in the NHS for PMI registration
Salary and Benefits:

Interview Process:
