Overview
Robin Smith Ward is a 28 bedded surgical ward, caring for elective and emergency patients, as well as ITU step down patients. We work with multiple specialties including Colorectal, Upper GI, Urology, Gynaecology, Maxillofacial, ENT, with a special interest in Enhanced Recovery. We are a vibrant team that works hard to provide patient-centered post-operative care. We are friendly, hardworking and supportive, and are always looking for new ways to help develop our staff. The role is an opportunity to work as part of an experienced team, with a proven track record of success. You will have the opportunity to develop your surgical skills, and complete additional skills if you wish. You will work alongside highly experienced Nurses and Healthcare Workers, and we will provide you with the support you need while you settle into your new position. We are looking for a dynamic Staff Nurse to join the Robin Smith team; experience is desirable but not essential. We value a strong work ethic, dependability, and a positive attitude. Responsibilities
* Acting as a Named Nurse, maintaining accountability for assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating programmes of care within the framework of team nursing.
* Coordinate the patients’ discharge arrangements in accordance with RUH Discharge Policy.
* Promote a patient-focused approach to care in collaboration with all relevant health professionals.
* Educate patients and their carers as required where a need has been identified.
* Provide information enabling patients to make choices about adopting a healthier lifestyle.
* Complete patient documentation correctly.
* Maintain a safe ward/department environment.
* Assist in establishing and monitoring protocols/care pathways.
* Participate in the promotion and maintenance of effective communication.
* Ensure patient confidentiality.
Qualifications
Essential criteria: NMC registration; able to evidence thorough and up-to-date knowledge of nursing theory and practice. Desirable criteria: Acute UK hospital experience; Teaching and Assessing. Knowledge: Understanding of the NMC Code of Practice and requirements. Desirable: At least 6 months experience in hospital setting post qualifying.
