Salary & Working Hours
Salary £85,000 - £95,000 FTE, based on 9 sessions (8 clinical and 1 CPD) per week. 6 weeks annual leave per year plus CPD pro‑rata in line with BMA model contract. Working either in a Doctor First or face‑to‑face system depending on applicant preference and experience. We can offer flexible working patterns and opportunities for cross‑site working.
Practice Overview
Lakeside Healthcare at Yaxley is part of Lakeside Healthcare, serving the healthcare needs across Cambridgeshire, Lincolnshire and Northamptonshire. We are a well‑established semi‑rural surgery with a list size of over 20,000, consistently achieving full QOF points and awarded the RCGP Quality Practice Award twice. Early adopters of the Doctor First system and Total Triage model from late 2025, we have no waiting list for appointments and embrace innovations in General Practice.
Responsibilities
* In accordance with the practice timetable, undertake surgery consultations, telephone consultations and queries, visiting patients at home, checking and signing repeat prescriptions and dealing with queries, paperwork, referrals and correspondence in a timely manner.
* Make professional, autonomous decisions in relation to presenting problems, whether self‑referred or referred from other health care workers within the organisation.
* Assess the health care needs of patients with undifferentiated and undiagnosed problems.
* Screen patients for disease risk factors and early signs of illness.
* In consultation with patients and in line with current practice disease management protocols, develop care plans for health.
* Provide counselling and health education.
* Admit or discharge patients to and from the caseload and refer to other care providers as appropriate.
* Record clear and contemporaneous consultation notes to agreed standards.

Practice Systems
GMS practice, SystmOne clinical system, Clinical Buddy support system low visiting rates, CQC rating Good, Enhanced Services including comprehensive sexual health service with opportunities to train in this area. We are also passionate about postgraduate/undergraduate training and involved with GP registrar training and training Cambridge Medical Students. Privileged to win GP Practice of the Year and Outstanding GP Tutor in the Cambridge University GP Society Awards. This area we are continuing to expand and would be supportive of applicants with aspirations towards GP training.
