Principal / Associate Transport Planner (Development Planning) – Location: Newcastle/T Gateshead – Salary: £53,000 – £67,000 – Full Time, Permanent
The Role
You will lead delivery of development planning projects from feasibility through to approval, providing strategic transport advice and technical expertise across varied schemes.
The role involves managing Transport Assessments, Statements, Travel Plans, access appraisals and junction capacity assessments, whilst maintaining strong relationships with clients, local authorities and project teams. You will work closely with senior leadership, support junior staff and contribute to business growth.
What We're Looking For
* Strong experience in development‑led transport planning consultancy
* Experience preparing and reviewing Transport Assessments, Statements and Travel Plans
* Good understanding of the UK planning process and development planning environment
* Experience liaising with Local Highway Authorities, clients and project stakeholders
* Strong report writing and communication skills
* Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines effectively
* Experience mentoring junior staff would be advantageous
* Proficiency with industry software including TRICS, TEMPro, ARCADY, PICADY, LinSig and Junctions
* Chartered status or progress towards a professional qualification beneficial but not essential
