We are looking for a Passport and Helpline Coordinator, working within the Horse Care & Welfare Team. You will contribute to its aim of preventing breaches of equine welfare by providing education and advice to horse owners and members of the public. You will liaise with our volunteer BHS Horse Care & Welfare Advisers and external organisations when a welfare breach is apparent, to ensure legislation is adhered to.
What you’ll be doing:
* Administering and producing our equine passports, both new and existing
* Be the first point of contact for telephone and email enquiries from horse owners and carers asking for advice
* Receiving welfare concerns from members of the public and ensure that these are allocated to volunteer Horse Care & Welfare Advisers or Horse Care & Welfare Field Officers as appropriate.
* Liaise with other passport issuing organisations, the Central Equine Database and Defra
* Educating horse owners regarding passport legislation
What you won’t be doing:
* Dealing with the same queries day in day out!
This is a great role for you if:
* Have outstanding attention to detail
* You have an excellent customer service attitude
* You are enthusiastic and self-motivated but with outstanding team-working skills
* You have great all round equestrian knowledge
* You thrive off having opportunities to further develop your skills
We’re excited that you’re thinking about applying to British Horse Society. To help you make the strongest impression, here are a few friendly tips:
* AI tools can be handy, but they don’t always hit the mark when it comes to the specific stuff we’re looking for
* We really want to hear your voice — your experiences, your skills and what makes you, well, you!
* If you lean too much on AI-generated content, your application might end up sounding a bit generic — and that could hurt your chances.
So, keep it real, keep it personal and show us what you’re all about.
