About the role
As a member of our growing Buildings Technology Services team, you will be a Smart Building technical specialist with accountability for the Smart Building design, project management and delivery from inception to handover.
Our Building Technology Systems (BTS) team provides Smart, ICT, Audio Visual & System Integration design. This role is for a Principal or Associate level Engineer with strong background in technical smart hospital integration & system architecture.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead technical design from concept through to detailed design for multi‑disciplinary projects, coordinating with architects, engineers and specialist consultants.
* Manage technology design and systems integration activities, ensuring alignment with project objectives.
* Liaise with clients and stakeholders to understand, develop and interpret their requirements throughout the design process.
* Collaborate with specialists in Security, Lighting, ICT, VT, BMS, AV to develop holistic Smart Building solutions.
* Create future‑ready buildings that deliver great user experiences and innovate the building landscape.
Required Qualifications
* Experience in Smart Hospital Technology design and delivery of medium to large building projects.
* Familiarity with NHP Smart Building guidelines and Gap analysis process.
* Ability to develop and specify solutions architecture integrating building systems with enterprise IT, ensuring interoperability and cybersecurity.
* Strong understanding of specialist building systems (MEP, BMS, fire safety, lighting, security) and ICT infrastructure.
* Knowledge of smart building rating systems (SmartScore, WELL, LEED, BREEAM, etc.) and relevant certifications.
* CIBSE, IET or Engineering Council accreditation or experience that will lead to chartership.
Nice to Have
* Experience with digital twin, IoT sensors, cloud platforms and enterprise systems.
* Deliverable performance specifications and detailed design documentation.
* Experience in cybersecurity considerations for smart building implementations.
* Strong communication and leadership skills.
