Aseptic Technical Manager

About the Role:

This post is an excellent opportunity for an experienced pharmacy technician to join our friendly aseptic pharmacy team. We are looking for an enthusiastic and dynamic individual to coordinate and lead the team in liaison with Aseptic Accountable Pharmacist. This role will:

1. Play a key role in the day-to-day management and continued development of Aseptic Services at St Johns Hospital.
2. Working alongside the Aseptic Leadership Team across NHS Lothian Pharmacy services to provide and lead high quality pharmaceutical services to NHS Lothian patients.
3. Collaborate closely with the Cancer Services pharmacy team, to support development, implementation and review of services for aseptic medicines provided to patients.

5. Lead, manage, coordinate and develop the dedicated team of pharmacy technicians and pharmacy support workers resource to meet the needs of patients within the SJH.
6. Contribute to the strategic and operational delivery of the NHS Lothian Pharmacy Strategy and SACT guidelines for the Aseptic Dispensing Service to ensure the highest standards apply to all aspects of service provision.

About You:

Were looking for someone who:

10. Registered as a Pharmacy Technician with the General Pharmaceutical Council.
11. Hold a National Certificate in Pharmacy Services and Scottish Vocational Qualification Level 3 in Pharmacy Services or equivalent.
12. Completed the HN unit: Procedures for Pharmacy Dispensary Checking Technicians or Accuracy Checking Pharmacy Technician Award (provided by Buttercups or NPA, 2019 or before)
13. Candidates are expected to hold a Higher National Certificate (HNC) in Pharmacy Services Development and Management. However, individuals who do not possess this qualification but can demonstrate equivalent professional experience may also be considered. In such instances, a Mapping Assessment Form must be completed and submitted as part of the application process. Applicants who are shortlisted will receive detailed guidance, including instructions and timelines, for completing and submitting this documentation (copies are included with the Job Description and Person Specification with this advert).
14. Hold a recognised work-based assessors certificate. (If a certificate has not already been achieved, it is required to be obtained within 24 months of starting in the position.)

As from 1st April 2026, the Agenda for Change full-time working week will be reducing from 37 to 36 hours per week. Part time hours will be reduced pro-rata. However, there will be a corresponding increase in the hourly rate so that pay will not be affected.
