Summary
Working as part of a Management Accounts team, you will be responsible for producing management accounts for a group of entities of the organisation. You will support the Financial Controller to deliver accurate and timely financials including the group monthly management accounts, budgets, forecasts, and other ad hoc reports.
The role is expected to be an ambassador of the company through championing the Severn Trent Green Power Values and culture.
This is a fixed-term role for 6 months.
Responsibilities
* Ownership of entity trial balance, posting adjustments to ensure accuracy
* Creating and posting journals, accounting for accruals and prepayments.
* Processing of intercompany transactions and reconciliations with parent company and group entities
* Preparation of entity balance sheet reconciliations
* Production of the Income Statement, Balance Sheet, and other supporting schedules as part of the month end, half year and year end close process.
* Provide commentary and insights into variances to budgets and forecasts
* Assist with the preparation of budgets and forecasts
* Conduct regular meetings with site and regional managers to share financial performance knowledge with each region
* Maintain fixed asset registers and track capital spend
* Assist with leading the year end audit process
* Identify and drive performance improvement opportunities and provide valuable insightful information to support decision making.
* Prepare and submit accurate quarterly VAT returns for the Group, ensuring compliance with relevant tax regulations and deadlines.
* Line management of one Management Accountant – reviewing their entities Management accounts, motivating and supporting their workload and progression.
Qualifications
* Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
* Proven experience as a Management Accountant or similar role.
* Minimum CIMA/ACCA qualified or be able to demonstrate equivalent qualification by experience.
* Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage, Xero).
* Strong knowledge of financial management principles and practices.
* Experience with accounts payable and financial accounting processes.
* Excellent analytical skills with attention to detail.
* Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
* Strong communication skills for effective stakeholder engagement.
