Job Title: Electrical Design Engineer (Junior to Intermediate)
Location: Greater Southampton (Full–time office–based with ad hoc WFH flexibility)
Salary: 28,000 to 45,000 (depending on experience)
My client, a nationally respected building services consultancy, is seeking an Electrical Design Engineer to join their growing team in the Greater Southampton area. This is an exciting opportunity to work on a diverse range of projects with a strong focus on decarbonisation and sustainability.
About the Role:
* The successful candidate will support the design and delivery of electrical building services projects across a variety of sectors. Current and upcoming projects include:
* Decarbonisation schemes for hospitals and public sector estates
* New–build educational facilities
* Healthcare infrastructure upgrades
This role is ideally suited to a Junior to Intermediate level Electrical Engineer with a passion for sustainable design and a desire to work on technically challenging and meaningful projects.
Key Responsibilities:
* Design of electrical systems including lighting, power distribution, containment, and fire alarms
* Production of detailed design drawings and specifications
* Collaboration with mechanical engineers and other disciplines
* Site visits, surveys, and client meetings
* Supporting project delivery and contributing to technical development
Requirements:
* Degree in Electrical Engineering or Building Services Engineering (or equivalent)
* Experience in electrical design within a consultancy or contractor environment
* Understanding of UK building regulations and relevant standards (e.g. BS 7671)
* Familiarity with design software such as AutoCAD, Revit, and Amtech or similar
* Strong communication and teamwork skills
