Assistant Accountant – Homeownership
12 Month Fixed Term Contract
Hybrid based in Bradford office with occasional UK travel

We’re looking for an Assistant Accountant – Homeownership to join our Finance Partnering team at Anchor, England’s largest not-for-profit provider of housing and care for people in later life. You’ll be providing vital support to our Regional Finance Partners and operational colleagues across the business, helping ensure the financial health of our homeownership services and retirement housing schemes.
What you’ll be doing
As our Assistant Accountant, you’ll:
1. Prepare and post accounting entries, including accruals, prepayments, and recharges
2. Monitor and report on service charge and revenue variances, providing insightful commentary and recommendations
3. Support the annual budgeting process and deliver finance systems training to operational teams
4. Be the first point of contact for finance queries via ServiceNow, email, and Workplace
5. Ensure compliance with financial controls and internal/external regulations
6. You’ll also play a key role in helping managers build their financial confidence and understanding.
What we’re looking for
You’ll be someone with:
7. A strong working knowledge of finance processes and systems
8. A keen eye for detail and the ability to work to tight deadlines across multiple priorities
9. Advanced Excel skills and confidence working with financial data
10. A proactive and collaborative approach – you're comfortable working independently or in a team
11. A customer-focused mindset with great communication skills
12. You’ll ideally have an AAT qualification or equivalent and previous experience in housing or a similar multi-site organisation would be a real advantage.
