We are looking for a calm, patient and understanding Support Worker to provide high-quality, person-centred support for Jack, an adult who has learning disabilities and is non-verbal and communicates through gestures, showing options, and guiding staff to what he wants.

This is a rewarding role for someone who enjoys building positive relationships and supporting someone to experience independence, choice and enjoyment every day.

Vacancy available:

1. Day shift: £12.40 per hour weekdays and £13.64 weekends.
2. Part time – 22.5 hours per week.
3. Currently offering + £2.50 for overtime shifts (over 37.5 hours).
4. Time and a half or double time for public holidays.
5. Sleep-ins are essential and are paid at £50 per night.

Your Responsibilities

You will support Jack with:

Personal Care

6. All aspects of personal care, such as showers and baths, pad changing and support with daily routines.

Independent Living

7. Managing finances and budgeting.
8. Encouraging choice and independence.
9. Keeping routines calm, predictable and respectful.

Community & Home Activities

Jack enjoys:

10. Going for drives in his car.
11. Trips to cafés, pub lunches and garden centres.
12. Getting out for walks and being outdoors.
13. Watching TV and listening to music at home.
14. Spending time with staff he trusts.

You’ll be supporting him to continue doing the things he loves, at his pace.

About Jack

15. Jack is Non-verbal and communicates through showing options and guiding staff, he likes a calm environments, being out and about, friendly interaction and routine. Jack doesn’t like to be kept waiting or busy/noisy environments.

What We’re Looking For

We’re seeking someone who is:

16. Calm, patient and understanding.
17. Able to work confidently on their own.
18. Reliable and consistent.
19. Able to use their own initiative as you will be lone working.
20. Comfortable delivering personal care.
21. A confident driver with a full UK manual licence.

Support Worker Hours

You will work a set pattern of morning and afternoon shifts. Shifts are 7.5 hours, and a full-time contract is 37.5 hours (5 shifts a week). The earliest start is from 7am and the latest finish is until 10pm.

Weekend working is essential, which will be on a rotating basis and when you work a weekend you will have the time off in the week.

Experience in support work is helpful but not essential if you bring the right attitude and willingness to learn.
