Position Summary
Why join our team?

The Talent Development Manager will play a critical role in the day-to-day Talent Development activities within the European Office (EO) People team, and across the People Team/TD communities in the region's sales & marketing subsidiaries. Their efforts will contribute to achieve both regional and Suwon Talent Development goals, success and growth of key talents in the organisation.

They will have responsibility for a range of activities, which require regular management of key stakeholder relationships across the business (including L&Ds/People Team Heads in subsidiaries and L&D in Suwon), directly with colleagues who participate in development, and with third-party training vendors.

They will serve as a key liaison between diverse internal and external stakeholders to ensure seamless execution of Talent Development initiatives. They will be required to be proactive in forming relationships with L&D leads, People Team Heads, senior leaders and other key stakeholders in subsidiaries, other regions and Suwon, to build trust and alignment. This also extends to collaboration and management of third-party vendors, ensuring high quality delivery of training programmes and development initiatives, while also building long-term partnerships.

Their role, in partnership with the Head of Talent Development, will also be to develop, and implement learning strategies and culture improvement across the region. This will involve regular consulting with key PICs, to identify learning/support needs, propose solutions and follow up. The activity will also contribute towards growing a learning culture in Samsung Europe.

The TD Manager will be responsible for designing, implementing and running development programmes and workshops to focus on upskilling of employees in Europe, across skills related - but not limited to - Sales & Marketing, AI and Leadership.

Some other named tasks will include driving the execution of annual mandatory trainings from Suwon, Global L&D KPI activity, Samsung U support for subs and SSCE and facilitation in EO Onboarding Day trainings.

Role And Responsibilities
Your key responsibilities

* Design, implement and deliver regional leadership development programmes and workshops, on a sole internal level, or in partnership with a third-party vendor. Ensure processes and projects are reviewed and updated regularly.
* In partnership with Head of Talent Development, deliver development opportunities for Top Talent (Successors) such as 1:1 coaching, targeted workshops, assessment processes (i.e. SELF 360)
* Hold 1:1 coaching sessions as required from the business, ensuring a full process of contracting and evaluation is complete
* Leverage deep business acumen and emotional intelligence to navigate complex stakeholder landscapes, to address varying needs and perspectives - while maintaining a focus on delivering measurable outcomes.
* Lead discussions with sub L&Ds and (where appropriate) obtain EOPT senior leadership support for L&D budget in subs. Use understanding of the current business environment and L&D experience to make recommendations for budget use and be able to demonstrate ROI where possible on investments made.
* Open and manage channels between Suwon Office and Subsidiaries. This includes ensuring global L&D priorities filter through to subsidiaries and conversely subsidiary feedback reaches Suwon.
* Assess training needs across audiences and subsidiaries to identify, recommend and create tailored development activities.
* Provide strategic input and experience on global discussion in relation to communications, content development and practical execution to enable smooth regional deployment
* Stay updated on latest learning trends, technologies and methodologies, as well as using own experience, expertise and knowledge to drive innovation and best practice. Consult regularly with sub PICs and other regional offices to understand and share best practices from both inside and outside of the business. Encourage the act of networking by connecting relevant colleagues to each other, and maintaining regular contact.
* Along with the wider TD team, support the growth of a learning culture in Samsung Europe through encouragement of learning principles and activity i.e. IDP, model, development conversations, logging of learning in Samsung U
* Evaluate the effectiveness of training activities, recommending vital improvements and implementing where needed/agreed.
* Organise & manage the monthly EO Onboarding Day virtual workshop, collaborating with L&D in subs, relevant EOPT members, and other facilitators. Help source guest speakers, and deliver content, and follow-up activity where needed. Recommend changes or improvements to the Onboarding day content and methods where vital.
* Partner with SSCE to ensure completion of Service Requests (SRs) within their KPI, help to upskill the team where appropriate, and use the SSCE for supporting activities for L&D in Europe. Encourage sub L&D to use SSCE and act as a connector between to the two parties to create strong working relationships.
* Actively build smooth processes for L&D tasks, utilising internal systems technologies (Workday, Samsung U etc.) to ensure efficiencies exist where possible to protect time usage and workload levels
* Lead (where required) or contribute to Global L&D projects as Europe's representative
* Deliver EO TD overview to new joiners to help them understand the function and L&D across Europe and at Global level
* Oversee the operational management of some European/Global programmes, to include nominations, communications and logistics.
* Where required, lead the RFP process to acquire new vendors, and also support the management of existing vendors and consultants.
* Be an authority in Samsung U essential functions that our region uses, supporting SSCE, L&Ds and the wider business with queries. Actively promote the use of the tool to log learning hours, drive engagement and reporting to show utilisation
* Be able to work with data at a level that questions, analyses or challenges, to provide reports or interpretations from dashboards that inform successes, areas for improvement, return on investment or action required. Able to select the appropriate tools and/or methods to provide the analysis or data required
* Collaborate closely with TM function to lead or support (where appropriate) on activities that align with the ongoing needs of successors, such as succession planning development plans, SELF 360 assessment, coaching.
* Provide guidance, support, and collaborate with other parts of the EO People Team as required

What We Need For This Role
To be successful, you will possess the following skills and attributes:

* Lead on a variety of activities and projects within the TD function, with acute focus on meeting learner and business needs, budget, and balanced against the requirements of Suwon and Subsidiaries.
* High emotional intelligence and a genuine passion for people development and culture improvement. Be equally happy working within a team and autonomously, as well as culturally agile, resilient and sensitive to the needs of various stakeholders while remaining true to the strategic drivers of the TD function.
* Cover for the Head of Talent Development or other team members as or where needed (i.e. annual leave).
* Travel within Europe and to Korea (Suwon Office) may be required at times in the year i.e. subsidiary consulting visits, delivering workshops etc.

Skills:

* Commercial value-add approach to L&D
* Ability to put people at ease, even in situations in which substantial differences in opinion exist
* Strong ability to scenario plan, anticipate the opinions of others, potential methods and respond effectively
* Experience in managing projects of different sizes and stakeholder levels
* Ability to rapidly create and manipulate data (especially Excel data) and extrapolate key insights and trends
* Ability to present complex arguments in a simple and logical way in order to win approval from key stakeholders
* Vendor selection and management skills that place importance not just on a successful outcome but also on deep and improving relationships
* Enjoy working across a number of projects simultaneously and reacting quickly and effectively to unexpected issues in a fast-moving environment
* Strong presentation skills (development and delivery)
* Experience in training workshop/programme research, creation, facilitation and evaluation is essential
* Medium-strong coaching experience is preferred
* Strong cultural and emotional intelligence
* Qualified in L&D / HR Management (ideally CIPD) or via relevant experience in the field, ideally to include a coaching accreditation.
* Must possess excellent Word, Excel and PowerPoint skills.
* Technology - experience of Cornerstone and / or Workday desirable
* Previous experience in a global, regional or non-UK role preferred.
