Job Summary
Surrey and Borders Partnership NHS Foundation Trust is a General Medical Council (GMC) Sponsor Employer. This job attracts a Recruitment and Retention payment of £25,000 in addition to £8,000 relocation allowance. The RRP is pro rata for part‑time employees. We are looking for a Consultant Psychiatrist to join our Community Children and Young People’s (CYPS) Mental Health Team in North East Hampshire, based at the Aldershot Centre for Health.
Main duties of the job
You will provide clinical leadership and direct psychiatric input as part of a multidisciplinary team that includes psychologists, nurses, therapists and support workers. You will work with schools, GPs, local authorities and other partners to ensure coordinated, person‑centred care. The team also has strong links to our Eating Disorder Service, Crisis Intervention and Early Intervention in Psychosis teams.
You will be responsible for providing a diagnostic, assessment and treatment service for children and adolescents with mental health problems within a multi‑disciplinary approach to care, promoting high‑quality multidisciplinary working and relationships. On average, a full‑time consultant will complete 2‑3 monthly assessments. Patients have a consultant review after six weeks of treatment in the team and then every 2‑3 months.
You will participate in an out‑of‑hours rota, providing back‑up for junior doctors and professionals in assessing young people seen in A&E.
You will have opportunities to support, supervise and train our Junior Medical Staff within the team.

Person Specification
Essential Qualifications:
* MBBS or equivalent recognised medical qualification
* Full medical registration with a licence to practice
* Approval under Section 12 of the Mental Health Act (or within 6–12 months of the time of interview/assessment)
Desirable Qualifications:
* Relevant higher degree, e.g. MD, PhD, MSc or other additional clinical qualifications
* MRCPsych or equivalent
* Management qualification or evidence of an interest in developing leadership skills
Eligibility:
Essential:
* Included on the GMC Specialist Register or within six months
Desirable:
* Approved clinician status or able to achieve within three months of appointment
* In good standing with GMC concerning warnings and conditions on practice
Clinical Skills, Knowledge & Experience:
