Job Description
Responsible for the inspection, maintenance, fault diagnosis, and repair of Class 230 rolling stock in accordance with approved maintenance schedules, technical standards, and company procedures. The role includes undertaking both planned preventative maintenance and reactive maintenance activities to ensure fleet safety, reliability, and availability.
Duties include carrying out mechanical and electrical fault-finding, component overhaul and replacement, functional testing, and commissioning activities. The post holder is required to ensure all work is completed in compliance with relevant rail industry safety standards, statutory regulations, and company quality assurance requirements. Accurate completion of maintenance documentation and records is essential.
The role requires effective collaboration within the depot team and with wider operational staff to support safe, efficient, and reliable train operations, whilst maintaining high standards of housekeeping, safety, and professional conduct.
Team Leader Duties
* Provide day-to-day leadership, supervision, and technical guidance to depot maintenance staff.
* Allocate work tasks and resources to ensure maintenance activities are completed safely, efficiently, and in line with operational priorities.
* Monitor work quality and compliance with safety standards, maintenance procedures, and regulatory requirements.
* Support staff development through mentoring, coaching, and performance feedback.
* Act as a key point of contact between management, engineering teams, and operational staff.
* Assist in planning maintenance schedules and coordinating planned and reactive work activities.
* Lead safety briefings, toolbox talks, and promote a strong safety culture within the team.
* Ensure accurate completion and review of maintenance documentation, defect reports, and compliance records.
* Support incident investigations, root cause analysis, and implementation of corrective actions where required.
* Maintain depot housekeeping standards and ensure equipment, tools, and materials are properly managed.
