Clinical Health Care Support Worker - Fracture Clinic Band 3
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a CHCSW to join our team in the Outpatients Department at Pilgrim Hospital. This position will be working mainly in the Fracture Clinic to cover Maternity Leave, but will be expected to assist in covering all Departments within the Outpatients area, as required. The successful candidate will join a friendly and supportive team where we encourage staff to learn new skills that aid with clinic delivery.
Working under delegation and supervision of a registered Nurse/ Midwife, the Clinical Health Care Support Worker (CHCSW) will undertake defined responsibilities appropriate to their role in the workplace setting.
They will comply with Trust policies, protocols, guidelines, the fifteen standards of the Care Certificate and the national strategy of Compassion in Practice and will ensure safe, compassionate and competent care is delivered to our patients and service users at all times
The post holder will be required to support the Outpatients Services across the Trust working at all sites, and on a 7 days per week rotation, as necessary.
Main duties of the job
Pilgrim Outpatients is seeking a part time CHCSW to join dedicated teams and work within the Fracture Clinic. As a Clinical Health Care Support Worker, you will be responsible for working under the delegation and supervision of a Registered Nurse or Nursing Associate in delivering a high standard of care to our patients in accordance with individualised care needs, utilising flexible, innovative and effective practice that demonstrates that our patients are at the centre of everything we do.
Successful candidates will need to be able to work across a 7-day working week, but most clinics operate between 08:30-1800 Monday to Friday, across all Trust sites as necessary.
Qualifications
* Literacy and numeracy qualifications equivalent to Functional Skills level 1 or above (e.g. GCSE grade E or above)
* NVQ/QCF Level 3 in Care or equivalent qualification or relevant experience
* Evidence of the Care Certificate or commitment to achieve on joining Trust
* Motivated to develop knowledge and skills and to undertake self-development
* Understanding of the Code of Conduct for Health Care Support Workers and Adult Social Care Workers in England
Previous Experience
* Significant experience of the NHS and/or health/child care and an interest in the speciality with knowledge of wider issues relating to health care
* Clear understanding of professional accountability, delegation and professionalism related to the role of a band 3 worker
* Makes a positive contribution as a team player and demonstrates awareness of importance of working as part of a team
* Able to deliver a high standard of care for patients and always striving to improve on what you do through change and innovation
* Able to communicate effectively with patients/relatives and carers and all members of the multi-disciplinary team.
* Is sensitive to the impact and implications of decisions and activities undertaken on other professionals
Evidence of Particular: - Knowledge - Skills - Aptitudes
* Able to work under minimal supervision but fully aware when to lift concerns to a registered practitioner
* Flexible, adaptable. organised with good time management skills
* Ability to cope effectively under pressure and resilient and work within the team to manage complex and challenging situations
* Good written and verbal communication skills
* Excellent interpersonal skills with tact, diplomacy, empathy and understanding
* IT skills in order to access required systems such as electronic patient records
* Ability to evidence/demonstrate key values and behaviours in line with the with the Trust framework: ?Patient Centred ?Safety ?Compassion ?Respect and Excellence
* Working knowledge of Health and Safety, Infection Prevention and Manual Handling
