Job Overview
We need a Marine Water Quality Officer to help make waters from catchment to coast cleaner and thriving by 2050. You will join the Marine team in Operations Catchment Services, applying technical expertise in marine environments, modelling, and data analysis to support evidence‑based decisions.
Responsibilities
* Review reports and summarise key information for decision‑making.
* Use data to inform water quality models.
* Interpret monitoring data and model outputs to support environmental protection.
* Summarise and communicate technical work and elevate challenges when needed.
* Build strong relationships across a dispersed team and with external partners.
* Use your initiative to contribute to the work of the team and wider group.
* Provide timely answers to technical questions.
* Take part in incident response with full training and support.
Qualifications & Experience
* Degree (or equivalent) in a relevant discipline, preferably with professional membership in progress.
* Experience in data analysis and some knowledge of modelling software.
* Comfortable working in a virtual team and travelling for occasional national meetings.
* Knowledge of water quality and marine environment is desirable.
Skills
* Proficient in tools such as Excel, Access, R, Power BI, GIS, and specialist packages like Mike or Cormix.
* Strong analytical and information management skills.
* Excellent written and verbal communication, able to convey technical information to non‑technical audiences.
* Teamworking and relationship building across dispersed teams and partners.
