My client is a scale up SME lender launched in the UK since 2021 – Being backed by an institutional funder, they had a successful £50M funding round in 2024 and are shortly closing an additional £107M ( Combination of both debt & equity) which makes it an exciting time to join business…
Due to the bespoke in house tech they are able to offer a flexible funding solution to SME business with focus on the SME being in control of how and when they spend it. They 4 X grew their lending book in 2025 and are looking to replicate it in 2026 with their talented team
We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Finance Leader to own the financial operations and strategy. The ideal candidate will have a strong analytical mindset, proven success in management of finance & accounting remits and either has experience or keen to gain experience within FP&A, M&A and Fundraising
The candidate will report directly into CEO with 1 direct report to support on day to day accounting tasks.
Key Responsibilities:
* Finance & Accounting Infrastructure: Evolve and implement the foundational systems, processes, and policies for finance & accounting function to support scalability
* Financial Reporting: Prepare and analyse monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, and lead the annual audit process with external auditors, to ensure accuracy and compliance with UK regulations.
* Budgeting & Forecasting: Develop financial models,budgets, and forecasts to support strategic decision-making.
* Cash Flow Management: Oversee cash flow, working capital, and liquidity planning to ensure financial stability.
* Financial Strategy: Provide insights and recommendations on financial strategies, cost optimization, and investment opportunities.
* Fundraising Support: Assist in investor reporting, financial due diligence, and fundraising efforts.
* Process & Systems Improvement: Implement and optimize financial processes and tools to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
* Collaboration: Work closely with leadership and other departments to align financial strategies with business goals.
Qualifications/required skills:
* ACA / ACCA qualification
* Proven success in a Business or consumer unsecured Lender – Either Fintech or Alternative
* Prior to Fintech, experience in a large scale Accountancy firm, bank or FTSE 100
* Strong knowledge of UK accounting standards, tax regulations, and financial reporting, in particular in relation to lending businesses.
* Experience in financial modeling, budgeting, and forecasting.
* Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a keen attention to detail.
* Ability to communicate financial insights clearly to non-financial stakeholders.
* Experience working in a small team and taking ownership of financial operations.
