Job Description:
As a Data Centre Construction Manager, you will be part of a creative, efficient team responsible for building and supporting Amazon's data centres. Amazon Construction Managers deliver industry-leading, energy-efficient, cost-effective data centres. The Construction Manager oversees all disciplines including civil, structural, architectural, electrical, mechanical, controls, and commissioning, ensuring full compliance with construction contracts and all commercial elements.
Responsibilities include:
* Managing construction projects related to new builds or capital projects, overseeing scope, timeline, and budget.
* Interfacing with general contractors during bidding, execution, and closeout phases.
* Collaborating with contractors and vendors for efficient project turn-overs.
* Negotiating with contractors, evaluating bids, and creating project scopes and proposals.
* Handling capital requests, financial analysis, change orders, and invoicing.
* Managing initiatives to increase data centre resiliency.
* Reviewing electrical and mechanical designs for new or existing data centres.
* Overseeing construction quality control, including commissioning.
* Reporting key metrics and troubleshooting equipment or electrical failures.
* Leading internal and external teams, with occasional international travel.
Basic Qualifications:
* Commutable to Hertfordshire/Thames Valley region.
* Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Civil Engineering, or Construction Management.
* 5+ years of recent experience managing large, complex construction projects involving MEP systems.
* Understanding of electrical and mechanical engineering principles and local codes.
* Experience managing general contractors and vendors.
Preferred Qualifications:
* Experience in designing or constructing data centres or critical infrastructure.
* Knowledge of building codes, controls, commissioning, and power management systems.
