We are currently looking for a EMC Laboratory Manager to join our team. The main responsibilities and duties will include:
* To oversee the EMC laboratory activities and ensure that testing is conducted in an objective manner.
* To vet the content of test reports and certificates and authorize their release ensuring testing and reporting requirements meet UKAS and OEM standards.
* Help and support EMC Senior Engineers to maintain smooth running of daily testing activities.
* Line management responsibility of EMC Technicians helping them set and achieve training goals, progression, and personal development.
* To ensure that all test staff are trained appropriately in accordance with the training procedures and that the training records are kept up to date.
* To oversee the EMC technical competency internal audit program ensuring competencies are maintained and up to date in accordance with the Quality Manual.
* Monitor, maintain and look to improve processes with regards to laboratory testing efficiency.
* To assist and advise the EMC Operations Manager with regards to engineer / technician recruitment, staff professional development, progression, and new training opportunities.
* To assist the EMC Technical Manager on technical improvement projects, technical procedure rollout and flexible scope update rollout to ensure full implementation throughout the laboratory.
* To oversee the laboratory environment ensuring test facilities are suitable for testing (cleanliness, lighting, noise, temperature, humidity etc.) and ensuring escalation of any site maintenance / repairs work in the laboratories to the site & facilities manager.
* Ensuring the customer confidentiality policy is maintained throughout the laboratory.
* To report any technical deviations to test methods and/or technical procedures to the EMC Technical Manager for authorization whilst ensuring that the customer is informed of any deviations.
Requirements:
* Degree or Higher National Diploma in Electronic Engineering or equivalent qualification, or considerable knowledge in a related field.
* 1 year of experience in a related engineering environment in a managerial position in a related field.
* A good telephone manner with a clear and precise command of the English language with considerable experience of customer contact at contractual and technical level.
* Management skills. Experience with technical personnel reporting to you will be valued.
* Knowledge of basic project management skills with the ability to prepare project schedules and identify critical paths.
* IT skills and experience using software packages such as Word, Excel and Outlook are essential.
* Skills in verbal and written communications.
