Our client is a trusted UK manufacturer of high-quality medical devices, recognised globally for precision engineering, innovation and consistent product excellence. As demand for their specialist products continues to grow, they are seeking a highly skilled Toolmaker to play a critical role in maintaining and optimising the precision tooling that underpins their manufacturing capability.
The Role
You will be responsible for the upkeep and optimisation of fine blanking progression tools, working with ultra-thin stainless steel materials (0.006") and consistently achieving extremely tight tolerances within a regulated medical environment.
The role will suit a Toolmaker who takes pride in precision, enjoys problem-solving at a microscopic level and values quality over volume.
Key Responsibilities
* Maintain, repair and optimise small fine blanking progression tools to ensure consistent accuracy and productivity
* Regrind, rebuild and refurbish tooling to exacting standards
* Diagnose tooling performance issues and implement effective corrective actions
* Operate and maintain a full range of toolroom machinery, including lathes, mills, grinders and surface finishing equipment
* Work confidently from detailed engineering drawings, specifications and quality documentation
* Ensure all tooling meets strict dimensional tolerances and regulatory requirements
* Provide technical support to production teams regarding tooling condition and performance
Skills & Experience
* Proven experience as a Toolmaker, ideally within fine blanking, precision stamping or a similarly specialised manufacturing environment
* Strong capability in regrinding, rebuilding and maintaining complex tooling systems
* Full competence with conventional toolroom machinery
* Demonstrated ability to work to exceptionally tight tolerances with consistent accuracy
* Excellent problem-solving skills and a meticulous, detail-driven approach
* Confident in reading and interpreting technical drawings and engineering documentation
* Strong commitment to quality, safety and procedural discipline
