Job Description:
We are looking for a committed Pupil Support Assistant (3) who is passionate about improving life chances for all, so that children and young people can achieve their full potential. As a Pupil Support Assistant (3), you will work under the direction and supervision of a class teacher or member of the school’s leadership team to assist teaching staff in supporting pupils with significant learning or health needs to access the curriculum and to ensure they participate in an inclusive school experience.
As a PSA 3, you will be required to:
* Support pupils' associated health and care needs.
* In the case of teacher absence, continue to implement the planned learning programme for up to 3 days.
* Support pupils/children individually, in class, or in small groups in identified areas of learning and personal development.
* Contribute information to update planning and review processes for individual pupils/children, including additional planning such as Child’s Plan.
* Contribute to a stimulating learning environment and programme by supporting the work of the teacher and assisting in timetabling and organisation.
* Contribute to written records of the progress of pupil support programmes.
* Offer a high level of care to enable the pupil/child to function to their full potential, including gastrostomy/peg feeding, medication administration, toileting, and catheterisation.
* Organise and participate in lunchtime clubs/learning support clubs as appropriate.
* Use specialist equipment (such as specialist IT) to enable pupils with severe physical impairments to access learning and teaching.
* Use specialist skills in communication methods (sign language, Braille, augmentative communication tools, bilingual input, interpretation) to facilitate access to lessons and classroom interactions.
* Support pupil/child mobility (as defined by moving and handling training).

Qualification, Registration, and Skill Requirements
* Good interpersonal skills to work effectively as part of a team to ensure positive outcomes for children and young people.
* Experience supporting young people with additional support needs.
* Obtain Protection of Vulnerable Groups (PVG) scheme membership through Disclosure Scotland before confirmation of appointment.
* Educated to SCQF level 7, including HNC Childhood Practice, SVQ Social Services Children and Young People, or equivalent.
* Ability to register with SSSC within 3 months of employment and complete required Post Registration Training and Learning (PRTL).
