About The Role
As a Young People Case Worker you will work under the support of a Service Manager and an Assistant Area Director, managing a caseload of clients and sharing responsibility for their safety and wellbeing. The service operates from two hubs in Bishop Auckland and Tow Law and includes outreach to dispersed properties in Bishop Auckland.
Shift pattern is a 5-week cycle of 8-hour shifts covering 0730–2200, including weekends and bank holidays. Early shifts 0730–1530, late shifts 1400–2200, main shifts 0900–1700/1000–1800 depending on hub. The role involves lone working.
Key Responsibilities
* Ensure the safety and wellbeing of all clients; follow safeguarding and emergency procedures.
* Act as key worker for a caseload, leading on risk assessments, support planning, and outcome-based support.
* Provide personalised, flexible, and creative support, engaging clients in decision-making.
* Collaborate with external agencies, adhering to data protection and information sharing protocols.
* Support clients to access Education, Training, Employment, and Volunteering opportunities aligned with their goals.
* Maintain a safe and welcoming environment, including preparing accommodation for new clients and supporting their transition.
* Assist in coordinating volunteers and promoting client involvement initiatives and residents' meetings.
* Maintain clear records and participate in team rotas, including evenings and weekends.
About You
Essential skills and experience:
* Experience working with young people or those affected by homelessness.
* Knowledge of needs of individuals facing homelessness, mental health, substance misuse, or care system.
* Understanding of risk assessments, support planning, safeguarding, and health & safety procedures.
* Strong literacy, numeracy, IT skills, and commitment to diversity, equality, and professional integrity.
* Professional boundaries, collaborative work, continuous development.
