The Clinical Trial Activation Lead (CTAL) will act as a business‑level partner for the site CAR‑T lead physician, hospital management, and the Quality team. The role is responsible for developing the overall Johnson & Johnson cell therapy site strategic business plan, driving site setup and certification, and supporting ongoing operational optimisation of Clinical‑Trial and CAR‑T centres across the UK and EMEA.
Responsibilities
* Activate sites and establish relationships with key partners and decision makers for certification purposes.
* Develop strategic key business questions and identify opportunities to influence cross‑functional tactical plans.
* Identify and implement operational initiatives, updated training materials, processes and systems updates, including strategic projects led by the Business Unit to improve CAR‑T centre operations, sustain efficiency and expand patient reach.
* Develop and deliver plans to improve CAR‑T patient management and share best practices across the network of UK CAR‑T centres and the EMEA region.
* Operate as the single face to the site, enabling a best‑in‑class experience during site setup and certification.
* Develop and co‑deliver site certification and training strategy.
* Coordinate all J&J collaborators around sites, including the Site Certification Team, the EMEA COE and the OpCo/cluster medical teams.
* Influence and develop the EMEA regional COE to ensure the strategic and tactical plans are fit for purpose for the UK and successfully differentiate us versus competition.
* Drive the contracting process by working with legal professionals to streamline the process for the hospital team.
* Work with Supply Chain, Quality, Regulatory, Legal, Compliance and Medical teams to establish site protocols and processes around CAR‑T.
* Ensure implementation of cell therapy operations into hospital guidelines.
* Orchestrate delivery of site certification training, coordinating appropriate J&J IM partners including Supply Chain and Medical.
* Coordinate final site certification.
* Proactively assist sites in ongoing optimisation of processes and infrastructure.
o Assist sites in throughput planning.
o Support sites in capacity expansion or new indications and workflow changes.
o Lead all aspects of ongoing site audits and inspections.
o Support centres to scale‑up CAR‑T operations via deployment of spoke and hub models to improve access to patients.
Qualifications
* Critical thinking, ability to implement business plans, good communication and negotiation skills.
* Ability to nurture senior‑level relationships and build partnerships with collaborators.
* Understanding of dynamics in sophisticated organisations and ability to influence people.
* Strong therapy area, disease and product knowledge.
* Prior CAR‑T experience strongly preferred but equivalent experience considered.
* Deep understanding of UK hospital operations.
* Strong project management skills.
* English proficiency.
* Advanced degree in life sciences and/or business or equivalent experience.
* Bio/pharma experience needed; haematology, oncology or cell therapy experience strongly preferred.
* Experience in a CRO, Field Medical, Local Access or Supply Chain is appreciated.
* At least 5 years of prior experience in key account management in a healthcare environment.
* Experience in project management and hospital planning, business planning, cell and gene therapy, stakeholder relationship management.
