The Environment Agency are fully committed to having an inclusive workforce to reflect the communities we serve. We don't just talk about diversity; we seek it, embrace it, and live it, for the benefit of our staff, our communities, and our environment. You will join the Hydrometry & Telemetry Team (H&T) which is responsible for the management of field telemetry equipment and hydrometric data collection, ensuring accurate and timely data and information are provided to customers of the H&T team. The job may also include elements of asset management, public safety and assisting in the delivery of project upgrades. • This role is a combination of field and office work, with greater focus on field work. Therefore, you must have a willingness to work outside, often in demanding weather conditions, all year round. • You will be required to drive to both rural and urban sites across Lincolnshire and Northamptonshire, visiting rainfall, river flow/level and groundwater monitoring sites, where you will gather, quality assure and provide scientific data to internal and external customers. • You will primarily be acting as a lone worker, responsible for delivering the programme for your section of the network of sites and so must be self-motivated and safety conscious. • You will also be working with a team of officers to report on and respond to issues, working together on asset upgrades and to collect gauging data, so must be a team player and good communicator. • There is an expectation to communicate with other teams, stakeholders and members of the public. Everyone that joins the Environment Agency is required to undertake training and participate in incident response duties when the need to respond arises. This role includes the Area Hydrometry Officer duty. Further information on incident response can be found within your candidate pack.
