Details of Organisation/Business Directorate The People Support organisation is responsible for ‘Strengthening and Enhancing the Resourcefulness and Resilience of Royal Navy Personnel’. The home of People Support is based within HMS TEMERAIRE. The organisation manages and provides development, support, governance and assurance of RN Sport, Physical Development, Adventurous Training, Accommodation policy, Armed Forces Covenant policy, RN Family and People Support and Casualty Recovery Management delivery. Background Organisation Physical Development, a trilogy of Adventurous Training, Physical Education and Sport, contributes significantly to the development and sustainment of the Moral Component of Operational Capability (MC of OC) by delivering individuals who are mentally and physically robust with a high degree of warfighting spirit. It also contributes significantly to individual and collective morale, and team cohesion. Adventurous Training (AT) is essential in providing the means to improve leadership, resilience, risk awareness, familiarity, and retention for all RN/RM personnel. The provision of Adventurous Training (AT) as core mandated military training is articulated in JSP 419, Adventurous Training in the UK Armed Forces. It provides details of the management and delivery of the Joint Service Adventurous Training (JSAT) Scheme which each single Service has adapted in some degree to suit their own operational circumstances. RN Policy is detailed in BRd 51. Water Activity Centre (WAC) Camber is a self-sustaining establishment within RNAT, managing training design, planning and delivery, facilities, maintenance, equipment, STC, and SQEP to safely, efficiently and effectively deliver AT through Offshore Sailing and a range of water based activities, in accordance with mandated international, UK, Government, MOD and RN direction, laws, policy and standards. WAC Camber is organized into HQ (Principal and Chief Instructor), Sailing Operations, Maintenance and administrative support. Job Role · Delivery of offshore sailing training to RN and RM personnel iaw JSP419 and NGB authorised standards in UK and overseas, · Conduct staff continuation training. · Planning, managing, and delivering AT and other activities (including SUP, dinghy sailing and powerboat) as directed by WAC Camber HQ and CoC. · Commanding STC ensuring the safety of the yacht, equipment and crew members. · Maintaining STC to RYA and MCA best code of practice in accordance with MGN 280. · Provide assurance of on-water training · Responsible for Moral, Discipline, Welfare of all Students under their care. PART C - RESPONSIBILITIES Specific responsibilities Responsibility Percentage 1. AT offshore sail training delivery/Yacht management and maintenance. To train service personnel in offshore AT sailing in a service environment in accordance with the national governing body of the RYA cruising scheme and MCA code of practice, in order to enable individuals to progress from novice to yacht skipper in order to lead and support unit led AT offshore sailing expeditions. 45% 2. Delivery of other AT/CA activities as directed. When not delivering sailing training, RN WAC Camber Yacht Skippers delivers RN WAC Camber activities as directed by RN WAC HQ. 25% 3. Yacht accounting, in relation to stores, finance and all aspects of safety equipment. 5% 4. RYA on water sail training course delivery as required by RN WAC Camber HQ 10% 5. RYA sail training theory course delivery as required by RN WAC Camber HQ 10% 6. CPD to maintain training proficiency as required by RN WAC Camber HQ and NGB’s 5% LEARNING & DEVELOPMENT Mandatory Training.
