Job Summary:
The role of Vehicle Technician consists of:
* Ability to test, diagnose, carry out repairs and servicing, and undertake all mechanical repairs of vehicles to excellent standards and to the appropriate specification.
* Examine vehicles, recognize and report on vehicle (or component) defects or systems of impending failure.
* Replace tyres when worn, damaged or faulty, ensuring work is carried out according to technical standards and work instructions.
* Use a range of tools to aid the role and work on various vehicle makes and models.
* Adhere to manufacturer procedures and processes where relevant.
* Diagnose customer needs by listening, responding, and explaining work required to ensure vehicle safety and roadworthiness prior to leaving the depot.
* Identify work and faulty components according to technical standards and instructions.
Organisational Structure:
Reports directly to the ACL Workshop Development Manager.
Key Accountabilities:
* Assist in meeting vehicle turnaround times (VOR days).
* Provide excellent customer service.
* Maintain understanding of outsourced third-party suppliers to ensure quick turnaround and maximize vehicle availability for rent.
* Work closely with team members across the organization.
* Assist in parts ordering for the fleet repair process.
* Assist with repairs within the facility and coordinate with outsource suppliers.
Authority / Influence Over Resources:
Obtain correct information from customers and communicate effectively with the Workshop Development Manager and workshop staff.
Authority For Change:
Limited to the service department and requires approval from the Workshop Development Manager or Operations Manager; may propose changes to management.
Internal / External Interaction:
Interact with the Workshop Development Manager, Damage and Maintenance Administrator, team members, customers, and the public.
Person Specification
Essential
* Full UK driving license
* Customer-focused attitude
* Ability to explain work required to customers clearly
* IMI Level 3 Diploma in Light Vehicle Maintenance and Repair or equivalent
Work experience / background:

* Worked with various commercial vehicles and multitasked jobs
