Description

Working collaboratively with local authorities and stakeholders, it promotes land through the Local Plan process and seeks planning consent for delivery by Berkeley.
With the backing of The Berkeley Group, the team applies a flexible and innovative approach to land acquisition, employing option agreements, freehold purchases, and other structures that align with the interests of landowners.
Based at our regional office in Taplow, Buckinghamshire, the role involves regular travel throughout the South East.
Key Responsibilities
* Prepare site budgets for technical work and consultant appointments.
* Prepare technical due diligence reports for land acquisition that identify site constraints and present innovative solutions.
* Provide technical support to the planning team in preparing planning applications and attend meetings with local authorities where necessary.
* Manage consultant contracts in line with Berkeley Group policies.
* Prepare detailed cost estimates to assist land valuation appraisals.
* Provide technical oversight and communicate detailed technical matters concisely to facilitate executive decisions.
* Review and challenge external consultant designs to ensure the most cost‑effective solutions.
* Develop strategies for new utility connections and procure cost estimates from providers.
* Provide technical oversight when developing site masterplans.
* Understand the NPPF, local plans, and planning processes.
* Use technical design standards and policies for highways, transportation, flood risk, and utilities.
* Assess new site opportunities and identify key technical matters quickly.
* Prepare design briefs for consultants and negotiate fees within budgets.
* Evaluate S38, S278, S104 and other technical legal agreements.
* Apply latest building regulations, design standards, and building products/techniques.
* Manage utility quotations and procure studies to determine off‑site reinforcement for new developments.
* Lead design team meetings and key stakeholder meetings.
* Produce professional written technical reports for other divisions.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
* Degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent.
* 3‑5 years’ post‑graduate experience at a technical manager level or equivalent within a technical consultancy.
* Excellent verbal, oral and written skills.
* Proficient in Microsoft Office programmes (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
* Experience using AutoCAD and GIS systems preferred.

The standard default full‑time working hours in the office are 8am‑5pm with core working hours 9am‑4pm.
