Hertfordshire County Council is seeking an experienced Locum Social Workers to join their Family Support North Herts Team and Welwyn & Hatfield Team.
This is an excellent opportunity for a confident practitioner to work within supportive, well-established Family Safeguarding teams, making a real difference to children and families.
About the Role
You will be responsible for safeguarding and promoting the health and well-being of children and young people, while supporting families and carers. The role involves managing a mixed caseload of Children in Need (CIN) and Child Protection (CP) cases, working autonomously while contributing effectively to a multidisciplinary team.
Key Responsibilities
Manage a mixed caseload of CIN and CP cases (up to 18 cases)
Undertake high-quality assessments and interventions.
Prepare reports and documentation for court and care proceedings.
Work in line with safeguarding legislation, policies, and best practice
Build effective relationships with children, families, and partner agencies.
Maintain accurate, timely, and well-evidenced case records.
Essential Requirements
Qualified Social Worker (QSW) with a minimum of 3 years perm post-qualified experience.
Proven experience in CIN, CP, and court proceedings.
Strong and demonstrable safeguarding experience.
Ability to complete robust assessments and produce high-quality written work.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Full UK driving licence and access to a car
Desirable
Experience working within Family Safeguarding or similar frontline children's services teams
