Job Description
We are looking for an experienced operational leader who will take ownership of practical training delivery, competence assessment and workforce capability, ensuring all Placemakers operate in line with approved safe systems of work, infection prevention and control procedures, and agreed quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
1. Lead and manage the Healthcare Cleaning operation, providing clear direction, guidance and support to Placemakers to ensure efficient, compliant and high-quality service delivery
2. Deliver hands-on practical training and structured inductions for new and existing Placemakers, ensuring full competence before independent working
3. Conduct competency assessments using agreed criteria, identifying skill gaps and delivering coaching or corrective training where required
4. Maintain accurate training, attendance and competency records in line with approved company documentation and audit requirements
5. Ensure compliance with all ISS, Trust, NHS and regulatory standards, including health, safety, infection prevention and control
6. Manage Placemakers in line with ISS and Trust policies, including recruitment, training, absence management, performance reviews, disciplinary and grievance processes
7. Monitor service quality, performance and costs against contract specifications and budgets, implementing corrective actions where required
8. Build and maintain effective working relationships with the Trust, ISS colleagues and key stakeholders, supporting continuous service improvement
Professional and Personal Competencies/Qualifications
9. Proven experience managing operational teams within a healthcare, cleaning or facilities management environment
10. Strong practical training and coaching capability, with experience delivering hands-on task-based training
11. Demonstrable experience conducting competency assessments and ensuring staff are safe and compliant before independent working
12. Sound knowledge of infection prevention and control procedures and safe systems of work within a healthcare setting
13. Experience working to contractual requirements, service level agreements and quality standards
14. Ability to manage Placemakers in line with policy, including recruitment, performance management, absence management, disciplinary and grievance processes
15. Experience maintaining accurate training, competence and audit documentation
16. Strong understanding of health, safety and compliance requirements, with the ability to identify and escalate risks or unsafe behaviours
17. Ability to monitor service quality, performance and costs, and support corrective actions where required
18. Confident communicator, able to build effective working relationships with Trust representatives, colleagues and stakeholders
19. Organised and methodical approach, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and projects
20. Commitment to continuous improvement, learning and workforce development
