Visitor Services Administrator
We are seeking a highly organised and motivated individual to oversee the smooth running of Deene Park's public open days, private group visits, ticketed events, and tearoom operations. This varied temporary role is cover for maternity leave, offering the chance to make a real impact over a 12 month period.
The opportunity combines event planning, operational support, marketing, and visitor experience with an awareness for budgets and record-keeping.
You will oversee seasonal staff and volunteers, ensuring excellent training, motivation, and support. The role also carries responsibilities for fire safety, first aid, and security duties on a rota basis. Strong communication and organisational skills are essential, along with the ability to work flexibly and hands-on to deliver outstanding service.
This is a rare opportunity to play a key part in the running of one of Northamptonshire's most historic country houses, working closely with the Owner and Estate team to deliver memorable visitor experiences and preserve the estate's heritage.
Key Responsibilities
* Plan and manage public open days, private visits, and ticketed events.
* Oversee tearoom operations, including catering, costings, and health & safety.
* Train and motivate seasonal staff and volunteers, managing rotas and social events.
* Handle budgets, daily accounts, invoices, and membership schemes.
* Promote events through marketing, social media, and the Deene Park website.
* Maintain the house diary, liaising with the Owner and Estate Office.
* Ensure fire, security, and first aid duties are fulfilled as part of the team.
* Support health & safety compliance, risk assessments, and visitor welfare.
* Assist with administrative tasks and contractor supervision when required.
About You
The successful candidate will have:
* Proven administrative experience in events, heritage, hospitality, or visitor attraction.
* An understanding of working with volunteers.
* Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail, with confidence handling budgets and accounts.
* A hands-on, flexible approach with the ability to work evenings, weekends, and on-call security duties when required.
* Strong communication skills, with confidence in marketing, social media, and liaising at all levels.
* First aid qualification (or willingness to train) and awareness of health & safety practices.
