Join our dedicated team of skilled Clinical Support Workers at Bedford Hospital. We offer a variety of roles across a range of specialties.

Shift patterns include day, night, and weekend working.

All new Clinical Support Workers begin with a comprehensive induction and receive ongoing pastoral and technical support from our Recruitment and Education Support Assistants (RESA). You will be supported to achieve your Care Certificate, equipping you with the skills and knowledge required to deliver safe and compassionate care.

After completing your induction and six-month probationary period, you will be enrolled in our development programme to help you grow and succeed in your role.


Our Support And Training Package Includes

* A six-day induction programme
* A two-week supernumerary period, supported by colleagues as you settle into your department and role
* A local induction to learn department‑specific procedures
* Ongoing contact and support from our RESAs during your first few weeks to ensure a smooth transition into your new position

Under the supervision of a Registered Nurse or Nursing Associate, you will work as part of a multidisciplinary team to deliver high‑quality patient care, including personal care and delegated clinical duties within your competence. We are committed to providing a safe, clean, and compassionate environment for all patients.


Development Programme

ACE Programme – Enrolled 6–12 months into the role, this three‑day course covers the Trust’s THRIVE values: teamwork, civility, patient experience, resilience, wellbeing, and includes a quality improvement project.

BEACH Programme – Completed 6–12 months into the role to enhance recognition and escalation of care for critically ill patients.

Care Certificate – Mandatory for all non‑registered Clinical Support Workers employed by the NHS since 2015, comprising the Practice Assessment Document (PAD) and 15 ESR modules. Full support is provided.

Disability Awareness Training – Covers visual/hearing impairments, frailty, hidden disabilities, learning disabilities, and physical disabilities.

Additional Support – Includes a two‑week supernumerary period, local induction, competency‑based training, regular 1:1 meetings with RESA, and access to the Clinical Support Worker Forum.

This programme ensures you are fully supported to provide safe, effective, and compassionate care.
