About The Role
We ve got an opportunity for a Health & Safety Specialist to join our International Seafood Manufacturing Site in Grimsby.
The successful candidate will support the delivery of the Morrisons Manufacturing Health & Safety Strategy within the sites to drive Health & Safety Standards today, supporting our colleagues to ensure everyone s safety is at the forefront of everything they do. You ll also focus on integrating effectively with the site leadership team to drive compliance, support environmental standards, and ensure high colleague engagement across the site. Additionally, you will support sites in continual improvements in their safety culture, policies, procedures, and risk assessments.
The role will also be responsible for:
* Ensuring site management, colleagues, and visitors comply with health and safety legislation and Morrisons policies.
* Listening and responding to colleagues at all levels to support continuous improvement in safety culture and risk reduction.
* Documenting and communicating updates to the site’s health, safety, and environmental management systems.
* Acting with integrity to promote a strong safety culture.
* Ensuring compliance with operational standards, policies, and procedures.
* Overseeing the site’s health and safety management system, risk assessments, audits, and policies based on site-specific needs.
* Managing contacts with authorities and external partners as required.
* Investigating accidents, incidents, and occupational ill health cases, implementing measures to prevent recurrence.
* Supporting environmental management, permits, and authority engagement.
* Completing independent safety audits and supporting corrective actions.
* Conducting investigations of accidents, incidents, and whistle-blower reports, reporting to HSE as needed.
* Escalating high-risk incidents to management for review.
* Managing enforcement contacts and challenges.
* Monitoring compliance with safe working practices and hygiene levels.
* Training colleagues in health and safety to the required standards.
* Building relationships with internal stakeholders, sharing best practices, and coaching colleagues to prioritize health and safety.
About You
- You must have a NEBOSH General Certificate with extensive health and safety experience, ideally gained in warehousing, logistics, distribution, or FMCG manufacturing. A NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent is highly desirable.
- Experience working in a fast-paced operational environment, managing multiple stakeholders, and delivering results.
- Ability to build strong relationships, share best practices, and proactively support colleagues in health and safety.
- Experience driving KPIs to improve audit scores, accident statistics, and reduce near misses.
- Understanding the impact of unsafe practices on stock/product and service levels.
- Knowledge of the wider supply chain and maintaining safe working practices. Confident self-starter capable of implementing safe systems of work, including risk assessments and compliance.
