Cheltenham & Gloucester Autocentres are seeking an experienced Lead Vehicle Technician to take a pivotal role within our workshop. This is a hands-on leadership position where you'll combine advanced technical expertise with mentoring and guidance, helping to drive high standards across the team.

The Role
As Lead Vehicle Technician, you'll be at the heart of the workshop—setting technical standards, solving complex problems, and supporting the development of our technicians.
Key responsibilities include:
* Carrying out complex mechanical repairs and diagnostics (including timing belts, clutches, engines, and advanced fault-finding)
* Working across all makes and models, including premium brands
* Driving workshop efficiency, productivity, and quality standards
* Mentoring and supporting Apprentices and Junior Technicians
* Assisting with workshop leadership and technical decision-making
* Accurately recording labour, parts, and fluids
* Supporting the Front of House team with technical queries and customer explanations
About You
You'll be an experienced, confident technician who enjoys leading by example and supporting others to succeed.
You'll bring:
* NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Vehicle Maintenance & Repair
* At least 10 years' experience in the automotive industry
* Previous senior or lead technician experience
* Strong diagnostic skills and a logical, problem-solving mindset
* Excellent communication and leadership abilities
* A calm, organised approach, even under pressure
* Confidence using garage management systems (Garage Hive experience preferred)
