Northern LGPS (Northern Pool) is being established as a new FCA-regulated investment management organisation responsible for managing the assets of several Local Government Pension Scheme funds. The Pool will bring together significant long-term capital with a focus on strong governance, responsible investment and operational excellence.
We are now seeking to appoint a Head of Technology who will play a central role in building and leading the organisation’s technology capability from the outset.
The role
* The Head of Technology will provide strategic leadership for all technology across the Pool, ensuring that systems, infrastructure and data platforms are secure, resilient and aligned with the organisation’s business objectives. The role will set the technology vision, oversee delivery of the technology roadmap and ensure that the Pool’s platforms and applications support a modern, efficient and well-governed investment management organisation.
* Reporting to the Chief Operations and Finance Officer, the Head of Technology will work closely with senior leadership, investment teams and operational colleagues to deliver fit-for-purpose systems and robust governance frameworks.
* Key responsibilities will include developing and implementing the Pool’s multi-year technology strategy, overseeing the delivery of technology programmes and projects, ensuring effective cybersecurity and technology risk management, and maintaining high levels of operational resilience across all platforms and services. The role will also manage vendor relationships, lead the internal technology team and ensure compliance with regulatory and public-sector standards.
* This is a unique opportunity to shape the technology foundations of a new investment organisation with long-term purpose and scale.
About you
* We recognise the urgency of building out the leadership team for the Pool and are therefore particularly interested in speaking with candidates who would be able to start immediately or at short notice. We would also consider individuals available on either a permanent or interim basis where appropriate.
* You will be an experienced technology leader with a track record of delivering secure, resilient and effective technology platforms within a regulated or complex organisational environment. You will be comfortable operating at executive level and translating organisational strategy into clear technology roadmaps and delivery plans.
* You will bring strong experience in technology governance, vendor management, cyber and technology risk, and leading technology transformation programmes. Experience working within financial services, asset management, or similarly regulated environments would be advantageous, though we are equally interested in candidates with experience in complex public-sector or regulated organisations.
* Above all, you will be a collaborative and pragmatic leader capable of building a high-performing technology function within a new organisation.
Closing date for applications is 12 noon on 26th March 2026.
