Technical Coordinator - Residential Construction
Daniel Owen are recruiting an experienced Technical Coordinator to join a growing team in Birmingham. You will play a key role in supporting the delivery of multiple residential developments by managing all technical superstructure-related tasks.
Position: Technical Coordinator
Location: Birmingham
Salary: £31,000 per annum + Car allowance + package
Contract Type: Permanent
Start date: Immediately available
This position requires a detail-oriented individual with strong communication and coordination skills, who can produce and manage accurate construction drawings throughout the life cycle of various projects. You will work collaboratively with both internal departments and external consultants to ensure the timely and effective delivery of technical information.
Key Responsibilities
1. Manage and produce detailed and accurate construction drawings throughout project lifecycles
2. Coordinate consultants and liaise with suppliers to provide technical information for tender, construction, and sales packs
3. Ensure compliance with relevant legislation including Building Regulations, NHBC, SAP Assessments, PEAs, EPCs, and Robust Standard Details
4. Lead technical input at pre-start meetings and site visits to resolve construction-related challenges
5. Undertake aspects of the Principal Designer role in accordance with the CDM Regulations 2015
6. Manage consultant appointments and technical fee schedules in line with company procedures
7. Attend internal and external meetings, reporting key updates and ensuring alignment across departments
8. Identify and propose value engineering opportunities and promote buildability in design solutions
9. Support colleagues and coach junior team members where appropriate
Requirements:
10. Background as an Architectural Technologist or experience in a similar technical coordination role
11. BTEC HND/HNC in Design, Construction or equivalent
12. Strong working knowledge of AutoCAD, Revit, and MS Office applications
13. Experience working within the residential sector, ideally with a house builder or technical consultancy
14. Excellent organisational and time management skills
15. Strong communication and interpersonal abilities
16. Commercial awareness and ability to manage multiple consultants and technical packages
17. Proven ability to deliver design information accurately and on time
18. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Desirable:
19. MCIAT or MCIOB accreditation
20. CSCS card qualification
21. Experience using Viewpoint drawing management system
22. Experience managing technical fees and cost-to-complete forecasts
23. Commitment to continuous professional development and staying up to date with industry changes
