Responsibilities
Reporting to the Deputy Director for Energy and Manufacturing Industries, you will lead the COMAH (Control of Major Accident Hazards) Team through an exciting period of change.
You will:
* Lead the Environment Agency’s relationship with the COMAH Competent Authority partners, ensuring effective and autonomous operation.
* Collaborate with Environment Agency operational teams and external partners such as site operators and trade associations, and advise and influence government departments on policy.
* Oversee change and improvement to the COMAH regime, including the implementation of new and improved IT systems, training, guidance and ways of working.
* Nurture the team to achieve personal and organisational outcomes, embedding change across the COMAH regime within the EA.
Qualifications
* Excellent leadership skills with the ability to motivate people to deliver outcomes in a fast‑paced, changing environment.
* In-depth knowledge of the COMAH regime and experience of environmental regulation, either as a regulator or within a regulated business context.
* Strong influencing skills, able to manage relationships and networks effectively and liaise with senior leaders internally and externally.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
